Eriksen's contract expires at the end of the season and unless Spurs sell him in January, he will leave for nothing next summer.

It is believed that the 27-year-old is holding out for a move to the Bernabeu despite a host of European clubs monitoring his situation.

But he may need to reconsider his options with the pursestrings tightened at Real Madrid.

According to AS, Zinedine Zidane will have his hands tied when it comes to signing players in the New Year unless they flog those struggling for game time.

Isco, Mariano Diaz and Brahim Diaz are just three players thought to be on the transfer list.

Real spent around £258million on transforming their squad in the summer including the big-money arrivals of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Eder Militao.

Reports in Spain also suggest that Real could offer Isco as a makeweight for Eriksen's arrival.

The Spaniard has made just two league starts this season and is concerned that his lack of first-team football could impact his role at Euro 2020.

Both Manchester City and Arsenal have been linked with moves for the playmaker in the past and AS further write that a loan move is the most likely option with a view to a Premier League switch.
