Man Utd blow as Axel Tuanzebe injured in warm-up ahead of Liverpool clash and replaced by Marcos Rojo

AXEL TUANZEBE pulled out of Manchester United's game with Liverpool on Sunday after picking up a problem in the warm-up.

Marcos Rojo was drafted into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's five-man defence at short notice.

That brought Phil Jones onto the bench as the Red Devils suffered yet another injury blow.

Paul Pogba missed the Old Trafford clash but David de Gea was named fit, with Anthony Martial among the subs.

Also on the bench was Mason Greenwood with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof fit to start, leaving Luke Shaw absent through injury.

Tuanzebe has been impressive for United across the back-four, starting against both Arsenal and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer has chosen to restrict Rojo to cup appearances, where three of his four outings in 2019/20 have come.

And yet both are veritable first-choices compared to Jones, who has played just 135 minutes so far this year with only one unused sub appearance in the Premier League.

Liverpool also had mixed news on the fitness front with Mohamed Salah ruled out due to an ankle knock.

But the visitors did have Joel Matip and Alisson Becker ready for the 4.30pm kick-off.
