Hatem Ben Arfa’s PSG contract included huge ‘ethics premium’ bonuses if he didn’t slag off club or turn up late
HATEM BEN ARFA's huge PSG contract included a £65,000 monthly "ethics premium" for not badmouthing them and training on time.
The ex-Newcastle and France midfielder, 32, revealed the details as he sues PSG for £7million for playing him just once from April 2017 to June 2018.
Ben Arfa earned £434k each month - £369k, plus the £65k good-behaviour bonus that say he failed to qualify for only once.
report that the ex-Hull City loanee has taken to PSG to court on two counts, with a decision due on December 18.
He is suing the Ligue 1 champs for a symbolic one euro for psychological and moral damage.
And his second, main claim is the "opportunity cost" in possible individual and first-team bonuses by being dumped in the reserves.
'I'M NOT SCARED'
"Everyone knows that he did not train enough."
But Ben Arfa replied by insisting every team-mate, even world record buy Neymar, believed the playmaker should have been picked more often
At the end of Wednesday's hearing in the Prud'hommes de Paris court, Ben Arfa said: "All the players were surprised that I was not playing, including Neymar, because I performed very well in training.
"I was told, 'You will give in, you will lose the plot'.
"But I am not scared of adversity. I stayed because I was convinced that I would play for them."
And Ben Arfa extracted some revenge on the field for his PSG woe, sinking them in the French Cup final six months ago with a shootout winner for Ligue 1 rivals Rennes.
Now though, his playing future is uncertain.
Ben Arfa is a free agent after leaving Rennes in the summer midway through a two-year deal.
