Man Utd flop Alexis Sanchez suffers huge injury blow as on-loan Inter forward could be ruled out until 2020 with dislocated ankle tendons
ALEXIS SANCHEZ could be out of action through injury until 2020 after he dislocated tendons on his ankle while on international duty.
The former Manchester United flop, 30, was forced off the pitch during Chile's goalless draw with Colombia.
The extent of Sanchez's injury has been confirmed by Chile on their official website.
A statement read: "The medical team of the Chilean National Team informs that the player Alexis Sanchez presented in the second half of the match with Colombia [suffered] dislocation of left tankle peroneal tendons with retinal compromise."
Chile coach Reinaldo Rueda discussed the injury on Radio Cooperativa after the match.
He said: "Alexis seems to have a suffered a small blow to the ankle.
"Tomorrow we will evaluate all aspects more thoroughly.
"We played against an opponent with different physical qualities."
Sanchez is looking to revive his career with Inter Milan after he scored just five times in 45 appearances at Old Trafford.
He missed last weekend's Serie A clash against Juventus as he was serving a suspension.
Sanchez scored on his full Inter Milan debut against Sampdoria before he was sent off the field for diving.
Sanchez has claimed that he has rediscovered his "love for football again" after joining Inter on loan.
But regardless of how successful his spell in Italy becomes, United do not want him to return to Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will offload the Chilean winger next summer and will demand at least £25million for him.
