MANCHESTER UNITED and Juventus have reportedly come to a verbal agreement over a £10million deal for Mario Mandzukic.
Old Trafford chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has demanded a striker after seeing Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez head to Inter Milan.
And the claims he will get his wish with Mandzukic being lined up for a January switch.
Solskjaer's policy has been to sign young players with high re-sale value as he looks to build a core of British talent.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Harry Maguire all arrived over the summer, with Mason Greenwood stepping up from the reserves.
But with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial struggling to shoulder the goalscoring burden, veteran Mandzukic would fill a major gap.
The Croatian striker, 34, was linked with a potential move over the summer and has been frozen out by Old Lady boss Maurizio Sarri.
Former Manchester United star Mark Robins reckons Solskjaer will need up to FIVE seasons to fix United's issues.
The Coventry boss, 49, told : "I’d love to see Ole get the time to be able to build, because he is not doing it in one window; he’s going to need six, seven, eight, nine… 10 windows!
"You don’t get that time generally. Ultimately what he is doing is trying to implement the processes Sir Alex had in place prior to his retirement.

"I think that is a huge ask. Remember Sir Alex went years prior to winning his first trophy and that will be very, very difficult to replicate because of the modern-day pressures.
"Having said that, if things are moving in the right direction then he will get some time. I also think Ole is a character that’s not putting himself front and centre; he’s putting his club front and centre.
"So he will be part of a process moving forward to make United successful again, and I don’t think he makes any qualms about that. I think that is something to be applauded and respected."
