ENGLAND flopped to their first defeat of the Euro 2020 campaign as the Czech Republic came from behind to beat them in Prague.
The Three Lions went ahead after just six minutes through Harry Kane's penalty.
But they conceded just moments later when Declan Rice and Michael Keane allowed defender Jakub Brabec to ghost in at the back post and equalise for the home side.
Then late-on the ball was pulled back by Lukas Masopust for Zdenek Ondrasek to side-foot in a late winner.
Here is how SunSport rated the England players...
Jordan Pickford - 7
Made good early save but was left exposed by poor defending, and not just for the goal. Forced to go long with many clearances. Made two more good stops in the second half but could not prevent defeat.
Danny Rose - 4
Shaky at the start, and although he improved for a while, the moments of poor ball control or judgement kept on coming. Lucky to avoid a booking for some tasty challenges.
Harry Maguire - 6
The best of England’s defenders, although that often wasn’t saying much. Made a few timely interceptions, steadied the ship, but even old Slabhead was not as commanding as usual.
Michael Keane - 4
Lost Brabec for the Czech equaliser, generally unconvincing at set-plays and poor distribution. If he is still in Southgate’s starting 11 at the Euros then something will be badly wrong.
Kieran Trippier - 6
Had a busy evening against the Czechs’ potent left side and his delivery when he found his way forward was not up to his usual standards. Combative and committed at least.
Declan Rice - 5
Started poorly, lacking his usual composure, and partly at fault for the Czech goal. Improved but this still felt like his least impressive display since he became an England player.
Jordan Henderson - 5
Did not enjoy playing in a midfield two in the first half, and was guilty of some sloppy passing. Happier back in a more advanced role in the second half. Full of energy as usual.
Mason Mount - 5
Experiment of playing almost alongside Kane didn’t work. Involved in creating goal, then looked lightweight and on fringes of game. Only slightly more effective in wider role after break.
Jadon Sancho - 4
Another who arguably had his worst game in an England shirt. Next to no impact going forward in the first half. Failed to make the most of an opportunity to run in on goal just past the hour.
Raheem Sterling - 6
Fine run and trick to win the penalty, yet struggled like all Southgate’s forwards to keep England on the front foot. Recent ruthlessness absent when Kane sent him through on goal.
Harry Kane - 7
Played in Sterling brilliantly to earn the penalty, then converted calmly. Spent much of evening fighting for aimless high balls. Created a chance for Sterling then failed to convert one of his own.
SUBSTITUTES
Ross Barkley (Mount, 72) - 5
Showed flashes of the midfield inspiration England needed without creating anything of substance.
Marcus Rashford (Sancho, 73) - 5
Unable to make a match-changing contribution off the bench, unlike Czech hero Zdenek Ondrasek.
Tammy Abraham (Rice, 87) - 5
Tough circumstances to make your first competitive appearance for England. No time to shine.
