Five strikers Man Utd could sign in January transfer window including Mario Mandzukic and Teemu Pukki
MANCHESTER UNITED could look far and wide in a bid to try and find a striker during the January transfer window.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the lookout for a forward to help chip in the goals after the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.
United are struggling to attract top talent with the club out of the Champions League for the third time in the seventh season since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
Fergie was never shy of bringing in a player as a short-term option, or to back-up what he already had.
He brought in Henrik Larsson in 2007, with the former Celtic and Barcelona legend in the twighlight of his career and the Swede's goals helped fire them through the Champions League.
But with United in the Europa League, hoping to push through to the latter stages, they are set to dip into the market for forwards.
Here are some they could go for.
Mario Mandzukic — Juventus
JUVENTUS could be willing to waive a transfer fee for the experienced Croatian, 33.
In May Mandzukic snubbed a £7million-a-year deal to sign for Qatari club Al Rayyan.
He has since been linked with United over the summer, but his wage demands scuppered a deal.
Mandzukic landed nine goals in Serie A last season, but has been frozen out under Maurizio Sarri this term.
With 135 goals to his name for Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich, Atletico and Juve, he has a proven track record of scoring in the Champions League and Europe's top divisions.
As SunSport exclusively revealed last week, he remains high on United's list of targets and they are willing to offer him either a six or 18-month deal.
Teemu Pukki – Norwich
THE renaissance man of the Premier League smashed in 30 goals in all competitions last season.
Granted, most of those were in the Championship, but it has not stopped the Finland international, 29, popping up with six already this season, including a hat trick against Newcastle.
Pukki also bagged one in the Canaries' superb 3-2 win over champions Manchester City two weeks ago and looks to have finally settled in to playing in the top flight.
While in England, Pukki has been known for his recent resurgence, but he was no mug before.
He has four Champions League and 13 Europa League goals in his career.
Callum Wilson – Bournemouth
ONE-CAP England striker Wilson, 27, is a rags to riches tale not unlike Pukki.
The former Tamworth and Kettering forward rose through the divisions and got his Football League break at Coventry before Eddie Howe took him to the South Coast.
He then helped fire the Cherries to the top flight and has 38 Prem goals in 98 games across five seasons.
Wilson has missed around 60 top flight games in that time but his current record is one goal every 2.6 games.
Moussa Dembele — Lyon
BROUGHT in just after Pukki left Celtic, the former Fulham striker has six goals so far this season in an impressive start to the campaign.
Dembele's goal record last season for the Ligue 1 side was a little under one in two, with 15 goals in 33 games and he has nine goals in 28 Champions League games.
The Frenchman has been looked at by United in the past, but does his goal record really make him a contender?
Victor Osimhen — Lille
THE 20-year-old is little known in England but he is making waves in Ligue 1 with Chelsea's opponents this week, Lille.
Former Wolfsburg youngster Osimhen has rattled in six goals this term and has impressed after signing for £10.8m from Charleroi earlier this summer.

All eyes will be on Stade Pierre-Mauroy when the Blues make their way there on Wednesday to see if the Nigeria international can bag his first Champions League goals.
He would also fit the age profile for Solskjaer, a player who appears to be growing in stature and finding his feet at just the right time.
Whether he would be cheap for Lill to sell is another question — as is the fact that they have Champions League football while United do not.
