Marcus Rashford ruled out of Man Utd’s clash with Arsenal as Solskjaer gives injury update

MANCHESTER UNITED striker Marcus Rashford is out of the eagerly-anticipated Premier League clash against old rivals Arsenal.

Rashford limped off at the London Stadium with an apparent groin injury as United lost to West Ham 2-0 at the weekend.

But further scrutiny on the Red Devils' decision not to replace either Romelu Lukaku or Alexis Sanchez in the summer.

Both forwards departed for Inter Milan in August - while United reportedly failed with a last-ditch attempt to sign Mario Mandzukic from Juventus.

But Solskjaer seemed relieved the injury doesn't look set to rule the England international out for an extended period.

Speaking to MUTV, the Norwegian boss said: “Marcus, no he’s recovering.

“He’s not very, very bad. We hope to see him before the international break.”

ENGLAND ABSENCE TOO?

Rashford is expected to miss the Premier League games against the Gunners and Newcastle, as well as the Europa League tie at AZ Alkmaar.

He could also be in doubt for England's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Montenegro in October.

The United striker was dropped for the recent 5-3 victory over Kosovo - with Southgate opting to start Jadon Sancho alongside Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane for the Three Lions.

INJURIES MOUNTING UP

The Red Devils are already without Anthony Martial who is suffering with a thigh injury and now Rashford will join him on the sidelines.

Daniel James and Jesse Lingard both featured against West Ham as they passed fitness tests.

But Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba all missed the shocker in the capital.

And there are reports of growing concerns over the nature of the injuries being accrued this season.
