Man Utd headache as Rochdale kid Peter Thomas, 15, not allowed to change with senior players… and is given drug testing room instead

ROCHDALE kid Peter Thomas gave Manchester United a shock problem - before his dream appearance at Old Trafford.

At just 15, midfielder Thomas had to have his own changing area away from senior players for the Carabao Cup third-round tie.

And that handed United officials a headache as they have never had to cope with that issue in the past.

Thomas was eventually found a spare room - normally used after matches for drug tests - after some shuffling of the accommodation at the famous ground.

Dale had a similar dilemma when starlet Thomas made his debut as a sub against Manchester City’s Under-21s in the Football Trophy last month - just 22 days after his 15th birthday.

That made the academy star both Rochdale's youngest ever player - and the youngest from any club to appear in that competition.

Luke Matheson held the previous record for the League One side, playing in last term's Football Trophy aged 15 years and 336 days.

Thomas took to the bench against a strong United side including fit-again World Cup winner Paul Pogba.

Old Trafford boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows a shock defeat would upgrade the pressure on him following Sunday's dire 2-0 Premier League loss at West Ham.
