INDIA star Virat Kohli will miss his planned spell at Surrey this summer after injuring his neck during an IPL match.
The county have now been struck by a second blow, as Kohli had originally been drafted in to replace Mitchell Marsh - who himself needed ankle surgery.
Kohli, 29, will now stay in India to receive treatment in a bid to be fit for his nation's Test match with Afghanistan next month.
The arrival of arguably the finest Test batsman on the planet had Surrey - and the County Championships as a whole - hugely excited.
However, Kohli's first-ever stint in England has been called-off after picking up the neck injury last week.
Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed: “This decision was taken following assessments by the BCCI medical team, subsequent scans and a specialist visit.
“The Team India captain will now undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.”
The news will come as a bitter blow to the Oval outfit, who will now not have Kohli available - having been slated to play across all three formats.

The classy, elegant batsman has played 66 Tests, averaging a phenomenal 53.40 with the bat.
On top of that, Kohli has played an outrageous 208 ODIs and 57 T20 internationals - averaging over 50 in the shorter formats as well.
