WEST INDIES star Evin Lewis had to be wheeled off on a stretcher after smashing ball into own foot against England.
Trinidadian Lewis had smashed an incredible 176 off 130 balls at The Oval before he was forced off in agony.
But Lewis' brutal innings ended in befitting fashion as he writhed around in agony after injuring himself facing Jake Ball.
Lewis had been merrily hammering the England attack into the stands when seamer Ball bowled an inswinger at the 25-year-old left-hander.
He jammed the ball off his inside edge of his bat and towards his leg, with the ball appearing to miss his protective pad before crashing into his ankle.
After several minutes of treatment it became clear that Lewis could not continue and he was wheeled off the field on a stretcher.
Lewis may have suffered a broken foot or ankle, and has undergone X-rays.
