Graeme Swann triumphs in Celebrity Mastermind with Star Wars as his specialist subject and says: It’s better than winning the Ashes – at least this trophy is real

GRAEME SWANN lifted the Celebrity Mastermind crown and claimed  It's better than winning the Ashes.

The SunSport columnist and ex-England spinner chose the three first Star Wars films as his specialist subject in the BBC TV quiz.

He beat musician Paul Carrack, who answered questions on Sheffield Wednesday, Gogglebox vicar the Reverend Kate Bottley, who chose Adrian Mole, and BBC Radio 2 DJ Janice Long, who was quizzed on 1980s' pop group Echo and The Bunnymen.

Swann, 37, said: "It's better than winning the Ashes. It least this trophy is the real thing."

The former Nottinghamshire spinner went first, scoring an impressive 10 but admitting he was stumped on one question.

He had to pass when presenter John Humphrys asked him to name "the giant furry creatures with curled horns that the Sand People use for transport". (The answer was - of course -  the Banthas.)
Swann's triumph on Wednesday night came in the fifth programme of a 10-episode series.

His chosen charity was the Belvoir Cricket and Countryside Trust.

Swann played 60 Test matches and 79 one-day internationals during his England career.
