Eoin Morgan hails ‘no bulls**t’ boss Trevor Bayliss as the man to spark global domination
England kipper backs Aussie coach to set up challenge on home turf for Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup
EOIN MORGAN hailed “no bulls**t” head coach Trevor Bayliss as the man to lead England to global glory.
Morgan’s men reached the World Twenty20 final in April.
And England’s one-day skipper is backing laconic Aussie Bayliss to help them challenge for next year’s Champions Trophy and the 2019 World Cup, which are both at home.
Morgan, who faces Sri Lanka in five ODIs and a T20 clash over the next three weeks, said: “I have a brilliant relationship with Trevor.
“We’ve kicked on from the relationship we built during our time together at Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and since then everything has been easy.
“Trevor is to the point, everything is relevant and he keeps things simple.
“There’s no beating about the bush, no BS around him, which I really like.
“It’s close to a year since we’ve been together as a squad.
“The halfway point to the World Cup will be the Champions Trophy next year and that will be an earmark to where we’re at and if we need to bridge any gaps to win the World Cup.
“I think we have the attributes to be the team we want. We’re moving in the right direction.”
England begin their campaign against Sri Lanka with a day-nighter at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, disgraced Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has called for match fixers to be banned for life.
Amir went to prison and was suspended by the ICC for five years after being found guilty of bowling deliberate no-balls during the Lord’s Test of 2010.
His first Test back will also be at Lord’s on July 14. Amir, 24, insisted: “Fixing in cricket should not be allowed and anyone caught should be banned for life.
“If anyone still hasn’t learned a lesson from our cases, then he will be the biggest fool.”
