Fury has 47 stitches taken out of horror gash nine days after bloody battle with Wallin ahead of Wilder rematch
TYSON FURY had his 47 stitches whipped out just NINE days after his bloody battle with Otto Wallin in his race to be fit for the Deontay Wilder rematch.
The Gypsy King insists a February 22 clash with America’s WBC heavyweight king is agreed, so the two gruesome gashes he suffered in Las Vegas last Saturday were a huge worry.
But promoter Frank Warren revealed the 6ft 9in Traveller wasted no time in getting the wounds on his right eyebrow and eyelid seen to, in his dogged efforts to be ready for the mega-money title shot.
Warren said: “Tyson has had his stitches out on Monday in Manchester and now he is just at home and chilling out with his family. I spoke to him and he told me it is all good and looking great.
“As much as the cuts looked horrific and there was a lot of blood, the cuts were quite straight lacerations, they were not jagged and they did not tear into the muscle.
“But the only way we will know if Tyson will be ready for February 22 is in six or seven weeks' time when we will see how they have healed.
“And even then, the issue will be whether it has healed enough to start sparring.
“If he starts sparring just before or after Christmas, and the fight is on February 22nd, then he has seven or eight weeks to get into camp and start sparring. We will see.”
Fury has been told to do no physical exercise for two months, while the wounds heal, but that would leave him desperately short of time to prepare for the monster-punching Bronze Bomber.
For over a year, the former unified champion has been training relentlessly under Ben Davison, shedding almost 11 stone and enjoying four wins and the original Wilder draw.
But he now faces an anxious wait to see how the first serious cut of his career heals and how Wilder comes through a scheduled November 23 rematch with awkward southpaw Luis Ortiz.
Warren, at the BT Studios to discuss heavyweight sensation Daniel Dubois’ latest bout on Friday, said: “Tyson has been training constantly now for 14 months and you can get stale doing that.
“The training does keep Tyson focused and it helps him keep his weight off, which we do not want to go back on, but you can over-train and sometimes your body needs a rest.

“I think the Wilder vs Ortiz rematch is going to happen but I would prefer it if it didn’t.
"The only reason Tyson fought Wallin was to keep busy while Wilder re-matched Ortiz.
“But, if Wilder smashes him over in one round like he did last time out against Dominic Breazeale, then it’s no problem.”
