Oscar Rivas wants Dillian Whyte defeat erased from his record after ‘failed drugs test’
DILLIAN WHYTE's win over Oscar Rivas should not stand, according to the Colombian, amid reports the victor failed a drugs test.
Rivas, who lost on points in the O2 Arena bout last Saturday, is now awaiting an official verdict from the Anti-Doping authorities.
"I think yes, if they want we will try and fight for the same title.
"Thanks to God I'll continue unbeaten.
"The truth is this defeat caused me a bit of distress but the support of the people pushes me on, we have to go forward."
It is claimed neither Rivas nor the WBC were told of the failed test before the fight.
His promoter Yvon Michel said they had only learnt the news on Wednesday,
Michel said: "I have not heard from any concerned parties yet to get confirmation or counter. I will wait to know more before any more comments.
"Nobody from our team was aware of the situation before the fight or after the fight up to this moment.
I can’t speak for the WBC, the supervisor was Bob Logist."
ROCKY ROAD
'The Body Snatcher', as Whyte is frighteningly nicknamed, grew up in the concrete jungle of Brixton as a self-confessed thug, where he had to use his fists to get himself out of bother.
But that didn't always work when guns and knives were brought to the fight.
As a street kid, the 31-year-old British heavyweight boxer was shot twice and stabbed three times on the mean streets of South London, as gangs ran rife.
And as soon as he became a teenager, Whyte's life changed dramatically when he became a father for the first time.
The British Boxing Board of Control allowed Whyte to contest the interim heavyweight title bout despite the sample showing “one or more” banned substances.
And Whyte's 'B sample' will now determine the next course of action - with the Brit able to appeal the result.
Saturday's fight went the distance after Whyte was knocked down in the ninth round, going on to win a 115-112, 115-112, 116-111 decision.
Whyte was banned for two years in 2012 when he tested positive for Methylhexaneamine following a knockout victory over Sandor Balogh.
He claimed he had not knowingly taken the drug, which was contained in a nutritional supplement.
'THE BLEEDING HAS TO STOP'
After news broke of Whyte's alleged positive test, Deontay Wilder laid into the 31-year-old.
The American is stipulated to fight Whyte as the mandatory challenger to his WBC belt, although that seems a way off.
In reference to Maxim Dadashev's shock death from injuries suffered in the ring over the weekend, Wilder said: “This sh** has to stop...The bleeding has to stop somewhere.
"We just had a fighter to f***ing die in the ring because of taking too many blow(s) to the head and you have idiots like Whyte want to CHEAT just to come up in his career because he’s not good enough to do it alone."
Wilder is set for a pair of rematches with Luis Ortiz and Tyson Fury instead of facing Whyte.
And The Body Snatcher's drugs saga has threatened Anthony Joshua's rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr after the Mexican-American vowed not to fight in the UK.
With a venue yet to be confirmed for the winter contest, Ruiz Jr claimed any match this side of the pond would be a "setup".
