Row erupts during Lomachenko vs Crolla weigh in as Brit underdog demands to weigh champion’s ‘light’ gloves
ANTHONY CROLLA will look to gain any advantage he can get before challenging Vasyl Lomachenko tonight - and he started with a squabble over the gloves.
Crolla, 32, bids to shock the world as he faces WBA and WBO lightweight champion Lomachenko, 31, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The pair successfully weighed in under the 135lb lightweight limit yesterday - but the gloves the champion will wear caused a stir.
Crolla’s trainer Joe Gallagher wanted Lomachenko’s gloves weighed as he deemed them “very light” - and even brought his own scales to determine his theory.
Promoter Eddie Hearn told the dispute could have been “mind games” from the challenger's camp, though Gallagher was in his rights to ask the question.
Hearn said: "Joe Gallagher felt that Lomachenko's gloves were very light, so he wants them weighed.
"They didn't have a set of scales here to weigh the gloves, Joe Gallagher brought his own set of scales, which they didn't want to particularly use.
"They said they will weigh them later and Joe wants to see them being weighed. He's well within his rights, in my opinion to see that.

“They are a new brand of glove, so they are not something that we're particularly used to.
"Sometimes it's just a little bit of mind games from camps just to make sure people are a little bit unsettled.
“Joe's very good at that, but I think he has a point on this occasion and the commission here are outstanding, so we don't see any problems."
