Dillian Whyte warns Anthony Joshua he will not be his Plan C for April 13
The Body Snatcher claims he will not wait for AJ if he chooses to fight Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury next
DILLIAN WHYTE has warned Anthony Joshua he will not be his Plan C for April 13, leaving AJ in trouble with boxing fans.
The WBO, WBA and IBF king wants to complete the set with a fight against WBC boss Deontay Wilder at Wembley next. And, if he fails to land an undisputed battle, he has prioritised Tyson Fury as second choice.
After Whyte’s sensational 11th-round KO of brave warhorse Dereck Chisora, Josh, 30, leaped in the ring delivered the Body Snatcher the bad news, to a chorus of boos from the O2 crowd.
And the Brixton ace, whose popularity is soaring, turned the pressure up on his old rival again by refusing to be his reserve dance partner, if choices one and two fall through.
He said: “Joshua was talking rubbish. I cannot sit around and wait for him.
“I am not wasting four months of his career waiting for him. I haven’t got time for that. I cannot do that, time is ticking. My career needs to progress.
“I am 30 and about to hit the peak of my career.
“We were supposed to hear about the Joshua fight directly after Wilder/Fury, what was supposed to happen and there’s nothing again so I can’t sit around and wait.
“I am going to plan my future, I cannot wait for that guy. I thought, when he got in the ring, he would say ‘let’s do it’ but he was umming and arring.
“The guy’s making a lot of money; he’s got four belts. I don’t think he really cares. It’s about what he’s doing; he’s the man at the moment. I’m sure Eddie Hearn doesn’t want the golden egg to get cracked.”
Matchroom promoter Hearn makes fights for both London bangers and he would have been shocked to hear his Olympic golden boy get jeered by the 19,000 crowd.
And he issued a deadline to Wilder, who he expects to sign a rematch deal with Fury after their incredible December 1 clash ended in a controversial draw.
He said: “I don’t believe Wilder fights Joshua in April and that leaves the door open for Dillian.
“It is no secret Joshua wants the Wilder the fight, he wants to decide the undisputed champion. AJ is looking at different fights but so is Dillian Whyte.
“I think AJ has done phenomenal but people want to see him fight Wilder, Fury and Dillian. He is up for those fights but the deal must be right.
“Dillian against AJ is a f****** unbelievable fight but for an April 13 date, you need to be on decided and on sale at the end of January".
Whyte beat AJ when they were both raw amateurs but Joshua got his revenge in the pro ranks in 2015.
And the unified champ insists a third meeting will only take place if it is best for business.
AJ said: “If it does happen, and I knock him out, I don’t want to hear people saying he's had an easy touch or I should have fought Wilder.
“Anyone of them are welcome to step in that ring with me.
“If you're not serious then don't mention my name and don't disrespect me, because I mean my business. I'm about my business."
Rock-hard Chisora knows the business better than anyone and, after 23 rounds of savage beauty against Whyte, has tipped him for the top.
The Finchley hulk now rightly nicknamed ‘War’, who vowed not to retire after his KO loss, insists Whyte is capable of winning Wilder’s belt, if he finally gets a chance.
He said: “I will bounce back, there are great fights out there. It’s not like I had a terrible loss or it was a c****y fight. It was a great fight and I enjoyed it.
“Every time everybody sees failure in sport they think everybody should retire. That’s a disease we have in Great Britain that we want to retire everyone once they suffer a failure. You just keep going. You go and go until you can’t take no more.
“Getting hit on the chin you’re just going to end up on the floor. I’m perfect, I feel good.
“Dillian should have got his shot at the WBC title already. I think he deserves his shot and, because this is heavyweight boxing, he has a chance of winning it with just one punch.”
And Chisora’s manager, ex-world champ David Haye who deserves credit for whipping his man into top shape, supported his claim.
The Hayemaker said: “Dillian deserves the next shot at a title after his last three wins.
“There is no one without a belt who deserves a title shot more than him.”
