CANELO ALVAREZ cemented his place as one of the pound-for-pound best with a brutal demolition of Britain's Rocky Fielding.
The Mexican superstar put the brave Scouser down four times before the referee called off the contest late in the third round.
The Liverpool-born fighter tried his best and showed flashes, but Canelo was just too good on the night and dissected his opponent.
He became a four-time world champion in the process at Madison Square Garden, New York, by picking up the WBA World Super Middleweight title.
Canelo came storming out of the traps and put Fielding down with a huge body shot to the ribs early on, which saw him take a knee.
He sucked it up as the Mexican continued his barrage, but the Brit managed to see out the round and regroup in the corner.
The Liverpool-born bruiser was putting on a fearless showing, but his 28-year-old rival was just too good, and too classy.
He fired in another thunderous body shot late in the second, which sent Fielding down to his knees again, but he again saw out the round.
And in the third it was all over, firstly a brutal shot to the head by Canelo put him down but he came back again with some excellent shots of his own.
Then, with just seconds to go, Fielding was down for a fourth time through those hooping body punches and the referee had seen enough.
Canelo said: “He came to attack and that was good for me. The plan in the gym was to hit the body and it worked.
“I felt good and strong, I didn't have to dehydrate myself to make weight. I'll talk to my team and enjoy the holidays.”
