Amir Khan hits back at Kell Brook and blames rival for failing to seal fight

It looked like the two domestic rivals may finally meet, however WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford now looks like the target for Khan

AMIR KHAN claims a fight with Kell Brook may not happen due to a disagreement in terms, as the Bolton man now sets his sights on Terence Crawford.

Khan, 32, looked set to finally agree a bout with long time rival Kell Brook, 32, with the chances of the fight increasing after promoter Eddie Hearn signed the former light-welterweight champion.

The pair came together at the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tony Bellew fight, and looked to have been discussing the potential fight.

However, Khan revealed to that Brook has not responded to his condition of a 10lbs rehydration limit, with former undisputed light-welterweight king Crawford the new target.

Khan said: I went over to him to show respect and say there were no problems between us.

“I said, ‘let’s make this fight happen,’ and he said he was struggling to make 147lb but we kind of agreed to that limit.

Khan claims he proposed terms to Brook

“Then I said there is a 10lbs limit on top and he either takes that or the fight doesn’t happen – and guess what, I never had a response back.

“Maybe they thought they had me backed into a corner and that I had nowhere to go but it’s a slap in the face for everyone.

“I’m not stupid, I had to see what other options are out there and the Crawford fight is there.”

Khan last fought in September when he beat Samuel Vargas in Birmingham, and before that he stopped Phil Lo Greco in one round as he returned to the ring after two years out.

The 32-year-old was savagely knocked out against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in May 2016 for the WBC middleweight title, which prompted his two year heistest from the ring.

Khan claimed he had to accept the terms Canelo proposed to him two years ago, and the 2004 Olympian believes Brook must do the same to him, as he is the ‘A-side’.

He said: “I’m the A-side in this fight and he’s not agreeing to my terms; when I fought Canelo, he was the A-side and I agreed to everything he wanted.

“The Crawford fight is out there for me and the Brook fight would be massive for me; my team is looking at where we go from here.

“I don’t want to be in the position where people are saying I’m scared of Kell Brook because that’s not the case, especially if I fight Crawford.

“I’ve gone up in weight and fought Canelo and these are the fights I want to be involved in, against the best in the world and the Crawford fight is tougher than the Brook fight.
“It’s a legacy fight; winning that fight takes me to another level, it makes me one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

“I’ve never been outclassed by any boxer and I think it would be a great match-up; it would be a fight that would showcase a lot of skill, speed and movement.

Khan claims a win over Crawford is better for his legacy compared to Brook

“He’s pound-for-pound No.1 and for me to have the chance to fight Crawford is way bigger.”

Crawford held world titles at lightweight and light-welterweight before moving up to welterweight where he won the WBO title against Jeff Horn in June.
