Floyd Mayweather laughs off talk over a fight with Amir Khan and claims he can’t even handle a few spiders
Bolton-born boxer called out the undefeated American champ despite not having a fight since his devastating loss against Canelo Alvarez in May 2016
FLOYD MAYWEATHER has laughed off talk of a potential fight with Amir Khan and joked the Brit boxer cannot even handle a few spiders.
Khan, who is currently on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity, hasn’t boxed since his crushing defeat to Canelo Alvarez in May 2016.
That hasn’t stopped the former light-welterweight world champ talking up a bout against the undefeated great Mayweather.
And the American fighter, who hung up his gloves after his victory over Conor McGregor, says Khan doesn’t deserve his shot and should “stick to TV.”
Speaking to the Daily Star on Sunday, he said: “For the last five years all I have been hearing is Amir Khan running his mouth off that he deserves a shot against me.
“It’s nothing new for me. Every fighter out there wants a chance against me because they know, win or lose, it’s going to be a big pay day for them.
“I have always maintained I am nobody’s meal ticket.”
Khan was voted by the British public to take on the first Bushtucker Trial where he eventually shouted “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” after a close call with a snake and spiders.
And Mayweather saw it as the perfect opportunity to mock the 30-year-old.
He added: “Only last month I read about him calling me out of retirement.
“He wants to fight the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and now I hear is running away from a few snakes and spiders.
“I only set up fights with fighters that deserve it and who are going to be part of a great fight for fans.
“Please! He needs to get real and stick with TV.”
