Haye ‘distraught’ after injury as Eddie Hearn admits ‘I’ve not seen David like that before’

EDDIE HEARN has revealed David Haye was “distraught” after his latest fight withdrawal and that he has never seen the Haymaker like that before.

Haye revealed that due to an accident in the gym he has been left with an injured bicep that has forced him to withdraw from his showdown with Tony Bellew.

The fight was meant to happen on December 17, but it will now happen next year around March or May at the O2 Arena.

Hearn told : "He was distraught. I've not seen David like that before.

“He's a guy who's very confident in himself and his ability, he loves the limelight, and he looked like a broken man.”

Haye has had to pull out of multiple fights in the past against the likes of Tyson Fury, Wladimir Klitschko and now Bellew – who he fought with an Achilles injury last time around.

Hearn said Bellew is contemplating an interim fight depending on the recovery time Haye will need from his latest injury.

He said: "We will look at things after the operation, look at the timescale and whether we have an interim bout ourselves or go straight into that fight.

"The plan is to reschedule, pending the success and rehabilitation of David Haye's injury."

Fury has weighed into the argument over who Bellew should face in the meantime, and has offered to fight him as he attempts to seal his recovery after a bout on the sidelines.
