Amir Khan insists he will make ring return after I’m a Celebrity Get me Outta Here stint
FORMER world champ Amir Khan insists he has not quit boxing despite appearing on this years I'm a Celebrity.
Khan dropped his biggest hint last month that he was ready to return to the ring and eyed a showdown bout with Kell Brook.
The 30-year-old hasn't fought since his crushing defeat to Canelo Alvarez in May 2016 after personal setbacks and a hand injury.
But it appears Khan fans will have to wait a while longer to see him back in action after admitting "there's no fights."
The Bolton-born Brit's figure also looks a far cry from the fighter who was once crowned light-welterweight world champion.
On discussing why he opted to enter the jungle, he said: "I'm still a boxer, I'm training but there's no fights on.
"So I thought 'I've got time to do this show, so why not?'
"I'm only going to be away from training and home a few weeks. I'll use it as a detox at the same time."
It is believed Khan is being paid 10 times as much as other contestants in the jungle - pocketing a staggering £250,000.
His personal life has been thrown in the limelight after he sensationally accused fellow boxer Anthony Joshua of having an affair with his wife.
And now Khan admits he made "silly mistakes" and "embarrassed myself."
He added: "I think if you look at the whole situation, it was all just silly, starting with the texts, then when I accused her of messaging Joshua, it was all just nonsense really from the start.
“And then when we sat down and thought ‘Look, we’ve got a family’. Also she’s expecting so we have to think for the kids. In life you have to forgive. We have to move forward and move on from things like that.
“That’s part of life. You always make mistakes and it’s about coming through them and not making them mistakes again.
“I made a few silly mistakes. I did put my life on social media, I assumed things which were wrong. So I kind of embarrassed myself.”
