Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor scorecards: Irishman was winning just ONE round on two of judges’ cards when ‘Money Man’ stopped him
CONOR McGREGOR was given just ONE round by two judges in his defeat to Floyd Mayweather.
And official scorecards from the fight showed Money was on for a convincing points win even before Byrd's intervention.
Judge Dave Moretti gave the first three rounds to McGregor but scored the fight 87-83 in Mayweather's favour.
Judge Burt Clements scored the fight overwhelmingly in Mayweather's favour at 89-82.
Mayweather was ahead 89-81 on Judge Guido Cavalleri's card.
With the blows raining down on McGregor he should have taken an eight count and perhaps prolonged Mayweather’s 50th bout.
But he courageously refused to meet the canvas and was instead rescued by the referee before he was seriously hurt.
McGregor later said that he would have been knocked out than stopped.
McGregor said: "There’s a lot on the line here. The ref should’ve let me keep going. I was just a little fatigued.
“I get a bit wobbly when I’m fatigued, that’s why I thought the ref could’ve just let me go on and let me go down.
“In the final two rounds you got to let me go back to the corner and wobble it out.”
McGregor admitted, though, he could not keep up the pace with 40-year-old Mayweather as the American notched his 50th straight win.
The Irishman said: “He’s not that fast or powerful but boy he’s composed in there. I have to give him respect for the great career hes had. F**k it I had a bit of fun over here.
“Early on I felt handy enough but he was composed in there and fair play to him. That’s what 50 pro fights does for you.
“I thought it was close. I thought I had him in the early rounds and thought I was getting to him in the middle towards the end.

“I don’t know what way to feel, honestly. I’m happy I’m draped in the flag, happy I was able to bring my team along with me and my country.
“And just getting to perform for a different crowd. Nobody’s taken these types of risks. I’ll take it on the chin. I’ll take it wrapped around the neck on live TV. It’s another day for me.”
Mayweather insisted it will be his last fight after taking his pro record to an incredible 50 wins.
