Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather: Confident punter places massive £100,000 bet on Money man winning in Las Vegas this weekend
A MAN from Oxfordshire has placed a £100,000 bet with Ladbrokes on Floyd Mayweather beating Conor McGregor this weekend.
The confident punter, who wishes to remain anonymous, placed two separate wagers.
One bet was of £50,000 at odds of 2/7 and the next was of £50,000 at 1/4 to win the mega-money bout in Las Vegas.
Mayweather enters the weekend's dual as the firm favourite, armed with his prolific 49-0 boxing record.
McGregor, the two time UFC Champion, will march onto the canvas for his professional boxing debut as the obvious underdog.
The UFC fighter holds a record of 21-3 in the octagon, so a victory against one of boxing's greatest ever fighters would be a stunning debut win.
Money, as Mayweather is nicknamed, retired from boxing in 2015 with damage to his wrists, elbows and shoulders.
However, the prospect of earning £231m from the Las Vegas event was enough to tempt him back into action.
There has been plenty of trash talk in the build up from the two athletes, but the latest disagreement was regarding the size of the gloves - which would have changed the bookies odds.
Mayweather has now welcomed 8oz gloves instead of the original 10oz that would be used at this weight.
The lighter gloves are expected to give the Irish athlete a boost in the boxing contest, where, on paper, he is expected to be taught a lesson in the ring.
