Floyd Mayweather insists his fight with Conor McGregor will be his last

FLOYD MAYWEATHER has promised his kids that his mega-money showdown with Conor McGregor next week will be his last.

The 40-year-old is preparing for the 50th fight of his career next Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena.

But no matter the result, which he is heavy favourite for, Mayweather is adamant that he will not return to the ring again.

He has previously announced his retirement twice after defeating Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton in 2007.

And he admits he fought his last victory, which took his record to 49-0, against Andre Berto in September 2015 would be his last.

However, after being lured back again by the huge purse on offer to meet UFC star McGregor, he is adamant this will be the final chapter.

Mayweather said: "I thought Andre Berto was going to be the last weigh-in, the last training camp.

"Honestly speaking, I thought that was going to be my last everything.

"But you never know what can happen. Now we're here for this big event.

"This is my last one, ladies and gentlemen. I gave my word to (advisor) Al Haymon, I gave my word to my children, and one thing I don't want to do is break that.

"I gave Haymon my word, I gave my children my word. I'm going to stick to my word. This will be my last fight.

"My real estate portfolio is truly amazing; that's a huge part of my life. My children are going to college - that's going to take up a lot of my time, because education is extremely important in my home.

"I've got businesses started so both my children and children's children can take over from there."

Mayweather goes into the clash with Irishman McGregor as the heavy favourite.

But although his confidence of defeating the MMA man is high, he admits he is no longer at the peak of his powers.

👊McGregor v Mayweather Tips: 12/1 beast👊

FLOYD MAYWEATHER is no KO machine.

His last knockout was Victor Ortiz in 2011 but that was shrouded in controversy. Before that, his previous victim had been Ricky Hatton in 2007.

So, even though we expect this fight to be one-sided, it will not end straight away.

Mayweather will toy with the inexperienced McGregor and we love Sun Bets' 12/1 that Money wins in the fifth.

Mayweather said: "I don't think I'm the same Floyd Mayweather I was 21 years ago (when I made my debut) - of course not.

"I'm not the same Floyd Mayweather as 10 years ago, not even five or two years ago.

"But I still said that I still have a high IQ in that ring, and experience-wise, (this fight) leans towards me. Most times when I go out there and compete against any fighter, experience will always lean towards me, because I've been in that ring and competed at such a high level for so long."
