Bellew trades insults with WBC heavyweight champ Wilder as grudge match inches closer

TONY BELLEW was involved in a four-letter row with Deontay Wilder as their world heavyweight title clash inched a step closer.

Bellew and Wilder exchanged insults as they came face to face at the weigh-in for Anthony Joshua's world title showdown with Wladimir Klitschko.

American star Wilder, who holds the WBC version of the heavyweight crown, is targeting a big-money fight with Bellew after his shock 11th-round knockout of David Haye last month.

And the pair wasted no time displaying the bad feeling between themselves as they traded verbal blows at Wembley arena.

Bellew was being interviewed for his thoughts on the Joshua-Klitschko fight when Wilder and his large entourage interrupted him.

The world cruiserweight champion responded in fury and shouted: "I don't need no f****** squad. I ain't no boy, I'm a grown-a*** man.

"I've dealt with the most dangerous heavyweight in the world already, I don't need to fear no-one."

Wilder hit back: "You haven't dealt with this power though."

Bellew said: "I've dealt with someone more powerful than you."

Wilder: "On my mother, on my kids, you haven't dealt with this power."

Wilder: "You know what separates me from all the heavyweights? How I knock a motherf***** out.

"Not only have I broke sockets, not only have I broke bones, but I have made them seize on the ground."

Bellew: "I don't care what the hell you've done, you're just a man with two arms, two legs - my boxing brain is far better than yours."

The spat will no doubt increase the clamour for the duo to test their claims by getting it on in a big fight later this year.

Bellew is now looking to see whether he can carve out a career in the heavyweight division following his win over Haye at the O2 in March.

And Wilder is looking to make himself the only genuine rival to Joshua or Klitschko as the best heavyweight on the planet.

The Joshua-Klitschko fight has grabbed the imagination of the boxing world with the IBF, IBO and WBA belts all up for grabs.

And Bellew has revealed how away from the cameras the mutual respect between the fighters has given way to need - with Joshua promising to hurt his Ukrainian rival.
