Amir Khan boasts he’s ‘feeling strong’ after revealing the scars of extensive hand surgery
The Bolton-born boxer shows the results of the surgeon's handywork on social media as he eyes a return to the ring
AMIR KHAN has shown off the results of the extensive surgery he had on his broken hand which had hampered him for almost 13 years, as revealed exclusively by SunSport.
The Bolton boxer took to Twitter to share his scars and assure his followers he’s feeling ‘strong’ and ‘solid’.
Manchester based orthopaedic surgeon Mike Hayton completed a complicated two-hour operation where bone was taken from the boxer’s hip and grafted onto his hand.
Khan, who turns 30 in December has promised British fight fans a homecoming fight after recovering from the severe injuries to his right hand and could be back in the ring as soon as January.
WBC middleweight champion Saul Alvarez dealt a brutal sixth round knockout blow when the pair met in the stellar Las Vegas showdown in May this year.
Khan had ambitiously stepped up two weight classes to challenge the Mexican and he ended up buying an entirely new wardrobe after packing on extra muscle for the bout.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport after his operation in August, Khan confirmed he will drop back down to welterweight.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport after his operation in August, Khan confirmed he will drop back down to welterweight.
He said: “I want to fight again in January, then in May and again before the end of 2017.
“I’m going to start training and make sure my hand is fully recovered. I don’t want to rush into a fight at the end of this year.
“I want my next fight to be in Britain. I know it’s going to have to be a tune-up having lost the Canelo fight and also having had the hand surgery.”
Khan is still the No1 challenger to WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia and he is eager to get revenge for the defeat he suffered in Las Vegas back in July 2012.
The Brit added: “I want the Garcia fight. I’m the mandatory challenger for Garcia’s WBC title and I would like to take that fight.
