Anthony Ogogo: Middleweight king Gennady Golovkin would take apart Chris Eubank Jr
Olympic bronze winner claims there are weaknesses in his fellow Brit that he and the Kazakhstan legend could exploit
CHRIS EUBANK JR will bite off more than he can chew against Gennady Golovkin, according to Anthony Ogogo.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed there is “a real chance” of middleweight king Golovkin facing Eubank in London this autumn.
But Ogogo does not rate his fellow Brit’s chances of dethroning the WBC, WBA Super and IBF world champion.
The Olympic bronze medallist said: “If Eubank shows him no respect, it will be a good fight while it lasts.
“But I’ve seen weaknesses in Eubank’s game which I know I could exploit — and I’m a nine-fight novice.
“Golovkin has won 35 fights and knocked out 32 opponents. If I can see things to exploit, I’m sure he can as well.
“I see Golovkin winning by stoppage, which is great because Eubank may have to come back down to domestic level.
“Hopefully I’ll be the king at domestic level by then and we can get it on ourselves.”
Ogogo, 27, faces Frane Radnic on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s first defence of the IBF world heavyweight title.
In contrast to his former Team GB team-mate’s fortunes, the Lowestoft middleweight has boxed just nine times since turning pro in 2013 due to injuries.
With troublesome Achilles problems and a dislocated shoulder now firmly behind him, the bout with Radnic will be his second in the space of a month.
And Ogogo is keen to make up for lost time as he looks to secure a crack at the British title, which Eubank defends against Tom Doran on the same show at London’s O2 Arena.
He added: “For the first time in a long while, people around me can tell I’m happy again.
“Before I was always hindered with this injury or that injury. I was never able to go out there, box well and feel happy. Now I can actually give a true account of myself.
“I’m going to become world champion and if you’re in my way you’re going to get beat. That’s the only mentality to have if you want to get to the top.
“I’ve got such belief in myself and my team that I’m going to get there, so instead of worrying about it I’m just going to enjoy the process.”
