Manny Pacquiao reveals he is in talks over mega-money rematch with Floyd Mayweather and clash against Amir Khan next year in Dubai
MANNY PACQUIAO revealed he is in talks to rematch Floyd Mayweather and opened the door for a clash in Dubai against Amir Khan.
PacMan, 40, has tirelessly chased a second crack at Mayweather, 42, after losing their highly anticipated but boring 2015 showdown.
And after initially refusing the idea of an exhibition bout against his American rival, Pacquiao told he is in talks with ‘Money’ for another fight.
He said: “My people are talking to his people, they’re talking to each other.
“We don’t know what the developments are, because I don’t have an update yet.”
Mayweather retired in 2017 after beating UFC star Conor McGregor in ten rounds but came back at the end of 2018 to smash Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in a one-round exhibition bout.
But with the 42-year-old insisting he is retired, Pacquiao has been forced to look at current welterweights Amir Khan and Errol Spence Jr as future opponents after he won the WBA title against Keith Thurman in July.
PacMan shared several rounds in sparring with Khan when the Brit trained at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card boxing gym in California.
The duo were in talks to clash in 2017 with Dubai provisionally scheduled to host the bout, though talks collapsed.
After Khan smashed former super-featherweight champion Billy Dib in July in Saudi Arabia, he claimed another Middle East clash was targeted, with Pacquiao in the other corner.
And PacMan confirmed his interest in fighting his former gym-mate, and wants the bout to take place at Dubai’s new Coca-Cola Arena.
Pacquiao said: “I’m planning for next year, trying to make it for next year with a possible opponent.
“Especially Amir Khan wants to fight me. We will talk again. It would be a good fight.
“We can discuss that, a fight between us. I have a commitment for my next fight – one fight only. But after that we can talk. No problem.”
