Kell Brook plans December comeback on Joshua vs Ruiz undercard before 2020 grudge match with Amir Khan
KELL BROOK is open to returning in Saudi Arabia on Anthony Joshua’s undercard before fighting arch rival Amir Khan.
The Sheffield puncher has been out the ring since a lacklustre display against Michael Zerafa in December, but plans a comeback before the year’s out.
And having jostled with Brit nemesis Khan in the negotiation room for the latter stage of his career, Brook urged his counterpart to meet him face to face to agree terms.
He told : “I’ve got to the stage now where I just want to sit down and try and make the fight, instead of trying to strangle him!
“I would rather sit down and talk about the fight, what’s holding it up.
“What we can do to get it across the line. That’s all I would be interested in, because the fans are missing out.”
With an end of the year return targeted, Brook is open to fighting on the undercard of the rematch between AJ and Andy Ruiz Jr on December 7 in Saudi.
Khan beat former super-featherweight world champion Billy Dib in Jeddah in July, and Brook looks to emulate his rival and compete in the Middle East, before a spring grudge match.
Brook said: “I want to fight December, [then] February or March. It would be ideal for us to fight then.
“I believe I can fight on (December 7). It’s something different, it would be a different look. I know that I would be ready for that time.
“It will be a year by the time I get in, so I don’t want an elite fight, but I want a good fight just to dip my feet back in the water.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed talks with Brook to return in December before facing Khan are underway.
He said:”Talks ongoing, but nothing too serious at the moment.
“I think they both want a fight in December, and then try and make the fight in the Spring.”
