Caster Semenya FREE to race as Swiss Supreme Court rejects IAAF eligibility regulations

CASTER SEMENYA is once again free to race following a decision by the Supreme Court of Switzerland to reject the IAAF's testosterone limit on female athletes.

The International Association of Athletics Federations are facing a major challenge to their rules by Swiss courts.

Initially deemed ineligible, the sport's ruling body applied to have the testosterone limit reinstated but failed in that bid on Thursday night.

It was deemed that no "reason or change in circumstance" could "justify" the court reimposing the rule.

However the IAAF still has until June 25 to convince the court their new limits are legal.

In the meantime, the court has told the IAAF that Semenya must be free to compete.

Her condition, hyperandrogenism, is considered by some to give an unfair advantage over her fellow female competitors.

However the South African sprinter believes she is being barred from entering the Diamond League meeting in Rabat on June 16.

That is believed to be a decision taken by the Moroccan Athletics Federation and Semenya has called on the IAAF to "ensure its federations comply with the law".

They should focus on doping, not us. I’m never going to take drugs.

Semenya on IAAF Ruling

She was hoping to compete in the 800metres event having won a 2,000m race in Paris on Tuesday.

After that victory, the 28-year-old insisted she won't take testosterone-limiting drugs to abide by the rules and urged the IAAF to focus on doping violators.

“I’m not an idiot. Why will I take drugs? I’m a pure athlete. I don’t cheat,” she said after winning the Meeting de Montreuil.

"They should focus on doping, not us. I’m never going to take drugs.
