NATE DIAZ will fight Jorge Masvidal in the headline event at UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden, UFC president Dana White has revealed.
The welterweight bout will take place on November 2 in New York City.
The decision was made late last night after the fight between welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington fell through.
The UFC then tried to match up Masvidal with Usman but after Nigerian failed to agree terms contender Leon Edwards was contacted.
However, talks with Edwards also failed so Diaz was signed up to face the American in an eye-watering match up.
Diaz and Masvidal are two of the sports most popular all action fighters.

And Masvidal has had a brilliant year so far, knocking out Britain’s Darren Till in March and then stopping Ben Askren in July in the fastest stoppage in UFC history.
Diaz has just returned after a three year layoff and the 34-year-old dominated Anthony Pettis last month in a unanimous decision victory.
Elsewhere, Khabib Nurmagomedov recently lost his cool with reporters after they asked about his father.
Khabib - whose dad was denied a visa to the US for the Conor McGregor fight last year - ranted: "How many times will you ask about my father?
"He [another journalist] asked me yesterday about why I didn't come to media.
