Australia star Steve Smith will only get out if England get ball swinging at Lord’s, says Graeme Swann

STEVE SMITH will only get out if Stuart Broad and his England bowling attack get the ball swinging, says Graeme Swann.

The Australia No4 has been in fine form already this Ashes series, with a staggering 286 runs in two innings.

And Three Lions legend Swann believes Joe Root’s side need to get movement in the air at Lord's if they are to get the prize wicket of the 30-year-old.

Swann, 40, – a – said: “It’s a very simple answer to get Steve Smith out.

“If the ball swings you give it to Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad.

“The problem is the ball isn’t swinging. The ball didn’t really do anything at Edgbaston.

“When the ball isn’t swinging through the air, his technique is phenomenal.

“It’s why he scores so heavy in Australia and around the world against the Kookaburra ball.

“Whenever he’s played in England and the ball does swing, he doesn’t get any runs at all.

“He really does get out very cheaply. England have got to pray that there’s enough moisture in the air and the ball swings.

“It’s got to be swinging away from him as well and not in. He forces people to try and bowl at his stumps.

“He looks a bit awkward then he drives you. He makes people change their plans and their best mode of attack.

“You get him with the best ball against any batsman aiming at the top of off stump and get a slight bit of movement.

“People go completely away from it. It’s incredible when you see it.
