LAMB ROAST

London Broncos new boy Brock Lamb is here to help them stay in Super League

BROCK Lamb may have a cheeky question for new London team-mate Jordan Abdull – can I have my shirt back?

For he has revealed he swapped jerseys with his new Broncos pal after playing for Australia’s schoolboys five years ago.

Lamb is pinching himself that he finds himself on the other side of the world, after having just four days to make his mind up to move from Sydney Roosters.

Until joining the NRL side from hometown club Newcastle Knights this year, the half-back had not even lived away from his family home.

Now he is on the other side of the world after his career went full circle.

“I swapped jerseys with Jordan after that game,” said Lamb about the 2014 clash against England Academy, when they were opposing number sixes.

“It’s pretty crazy really and I didn’t realise at first. I didn’t realise I’d made my NRL debut against Jackson Hastings either – now I could make my Super League debut against him!”

Lamb admits just hopping on the tube or on a famed London bus has been a novelty after swapping Sydney for London.

But do not expect him to be a tourist just picking up a pay cheque. The 22-year-old is here to guide London to Super League safety.

He added: “It’s crazy but it’s a bit of a dream come true. I’m playing rugby league and travelling the world.

“There was the opportunity, I spoke to my family and spoke to Sydney Roosters then I was off within four days.

“It was so quick. I spoke to the Roosters, got released and that was it. The opportunity to be in another country playing rugby league, which I love, was huge.”

Lamb admits former Newcastle team-mate Luke Yates, who will also face Salford today, played a huge role in luring him to London.

But the pressure of a relegation fight holds no more fear than the pressure to win any game.

He told SunSport: “I’ve watched a bit of Super League as Luke has been playing in it and he played a massive role in me coming here.

“He sold the club said how good it is. Obviously, having him here makes it easier for me to settle in but I always want to win.

“That’s why anyone plays rugby league. It doesn’t matter if you are fighting relegation or first in the table, you always want to win.”
