Tributes pour in for ‘beautiful’ Danika McGuigan after boxing legend Barry McGuigan’s daughter dies following battle with cancer
GEORGE GROVES and Carl Frampton have led the tributes for Danika McGuigan after the actress died at the age of 33 following a brief battle with cancer.
It was revealed today that 'Nika' had passed away peacefully early yesterday, with brother Shane McGuigan taking to Instagram to pay tribute to his "beautiful" sister.
The boxing community has been left saddened by the death of Danika - daughter of former world champion Barry McGuigan.
In an emotional tweet, Groves said: "Heart broken by death of Nika McGuigan. A lovely kind soul, who has been taken too soon. May she Rest in Peace."
Northern Irish boxer Frampton tweeted: "Sincerely saddened to hear the heartbreaking news about Nika McGuigan. My (sic) she rest in peace."
In a message to boxing trainer Shane, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn said: "All our thoughts with you and the family."
Boxer Conrad Cummings tweeted: "Deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of Nika McGuigan, condolences to all the McGuigan family.
"Thoughts and prayers with them all at this tragic time."

Game Of Thrones star John Bradley - who worked with Danika on the 2015 thriller Traders - also offered his condolences to the McGuigan family.
He said: "I was lucky enough to work with Nika McGuigan a few years ago and she was one of the kindest, funniest and most talented people I’ve ever met.
"It’s a heartbreaking loss. Sending all my love to her family."
While Nika's Can't Cope, Won't Cope co-star Amy Huberman added: "Deeply shocked and saddened at the devastating news about the talented, fantastic, shining Nika McGuigan.
"Heartbroken for all her family and friends. Rest In Peace Nika xx."
And the series' creator Stefanie Preissner wrote: "Shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Nika McGuigan- the brilliant, lovely, Danielle in Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope wouldn’t have been the same without her.
"Deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. Xxx."
Derry Girls actress Nicola Coughlan added: "So sad to hear about the passing of Nika McGuigan, such a lovely, sweet, talented girl with her whole future ahead of her. At a loss for words."
