Watch Manny Pacquiao’s confused expression as he DENIES he has signed deal to fight Amir Khan in Saudi Arabia
MANNY PACQUIAO has DENIED a deal has been agreed to fight Amir Khan.
At a press conference in Bolton yesterday, Khan told reporters that the two boxing legends will finally clash on November 8 in Saudi Arabia.
But Pac-Man, who fights this weekend against undefeated American Keith Thurman, was bemused when told of Khan’s claims.
asked the Filipino fighter: “Did you hear the big news from England?
“Amir Khan had a press conference and he said you’re fighting him on November 8 in Saudi Arabia.”
Pacquiao squinted his eyes in surprise before shaking his head.
The interviewer continued: “He [Khan] said the fight is signed already.”
Pacquiao responded: “No, I don’t know that.”
OLD STABLEMATES
And Pacquiao’s publicist Fred Sternberg has also poured cold water on Khan’s claims.
He told : “There’s nothing more to say on this. Manny has not signed a contract to fight Amir Khan.
“Amir has been putting this out for weeks.
On Friday Khan demolished Billy Dib at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah and is believed to have pocketed £7million for the easy night’s work.
But clearly a scrap against his former stablemate Pac-Man should prove a much sterner test.
The two boxers spent years working together in the US under the tutelage of legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
After his victory against Dib at the weekend, former lightweight world champ Khan said: “I felt very comfortable in there.
“Obviously having a new trainer, Bones Adams we had to work on a strategy, I slowed myself down a little bit instead of rushing all the time.
“I was seeing everything, making sure I was putting in the right shots, I felt very comfortable in there.
“Look, we want the Pacquiao fight, let’s hope he comes to Saudi Arabia.
“Hopefully we come back again at the end of the year and bring Manny Pacquiao here.”
