Boris Becker auctions off Wimbledon trophy, jewellery and even his socks as he faces divorce bill
BORIS Becker is flogging memorabilia including his Wimbledon trophy, socks and jewellery as he faces a divorce bill.
The three-time tennis champ is hoping the 82-lot auction will help him stave off bankruptcy as his bitter divorce battle with ex-wife Lilly draws to an end.
The 1985 Wimbledon singles replica trophy is one of 82 items going under the hammerBecker, 51, and Lilly, 42, have been locked in a family court dispute over money after he was declared bankrupt in 2017.
The German is now selling a range of items with Wyles Hardy & Co - including his 1985 Wimbledon replica trophy and a watch Novak Djokovic gave to him, the reveals.
Other items going under the hammer include US Open trophy for Becker's victory over Ivan Lendl in 1989 and a certificate commemorating his men's doubles gold medal win in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
Becker is also selling his International Tennis Hall of Fame ring and the 1988 Davis cup.
The auction was originally halted last year but the star now hopes to net £200,000 for the lot.
Mark Ford, a trustee of Becker's bankruptcy estate, said: "We are pleased that the auction can now be resumed as these assets are one of the few remaining assets of the bankruptcy, and we anticipate declaring a dividend to creditors later this year.
"We hope and expect the sale will create the same level of excitement as it did last year, as this is a rare opportunity for tennis fans to acquire memorabilia of this kind."
Becker, who was once reported to be worth £160million, was declared bankrupt by the High Court in London in June 2017 over a £31million unpaid debt to a bank.

His latest divorce battle is now understood to be coming to an end and he is said to be preparing for a financial settlement with ex-wife Lilly.
The couple, who married in 2009 and have one son, announced they were splitting in May last year but are understood to the final stages of their divorce.
Boris has two other sons - Noah, 24 and Elias, 18 - from his previous marriage with 51-year-old Barbara Becker.
