PIERS Morgan slammed the "cocky" tea-sipping celebration by US striker Alex Morgan as a "declaration of war" in last night's defeat for England's Lionesses.
The USA stormed through to the final of the World Cup in a closely fought match which saw them just clinch victory 2-1.
USA star Morgan trolled the entire English nation after she celebrated in their World Cup semi-final clash.
The Orlando Pride forward mimed "sipping on tea" after she headed a cross into the back of the net - which turned out to be the winning goal against Phil Neville’s Lionesses.
Piers tweeted "it's bordering on a declaration of war" in response to Fox News anchor Martha MacCullum posting "it just seems rude", before adding "make these cocky yanks choke on it".
He slammed the player's tea-drinking technique, saying "that is NOT how you sip tea. Dope, not tea".
But US forward Morgan argued back, saying: "I was just trying to keep it interesting.
"Rapinoe [the benched US captain] has so many celebrations and nobody asks her anything!
"Obviously we have a lot of fun with celebrations and I wanted to continue the momentum."
This morning the Good Morning Britain tea pointed out how wrong Morgan's technique was as they attempted, and failed, to sip from a cup with their little fingers out.
Piers again said: "No one in Britain drinks with the pinky out like that.
"The sneering nature of using our great national past time of tea drinking to hurl at us in our moment of defeat, I was willing us to beat them so we could then mimic them eating Big Macs and large fries."
Last night England and Juventus forward Lianne Sanderson called the celebration "distasteful" while working as a pundit for beIN Sports.
Sanderson said: "I expected Alex to grab a goal but I'm not that happy with that celebration.
"You can celebrate how you want, but for me that is a bit distasteful, and I don't think she needs to do that.
"I'm a big believer in the Americans and how they celebrate but for me this was a little bit disrespectful.
"For me, I could be wrong, but it's based upon playing against England, we love our tea in England, I'm not a tea drinker but that's what we're connected with so I think it's a little bit distasteful."
USA had taken a 1-0 lead thanks in part to poor defending from England after Lucy Bronze failed to head away a cross that Christen Press nodded home.
Press came into the side in place of USA skipper Megan Rapinoe - who has been attacked by Donald Trump in the build-up.
Phil Neville's side bounced back, however, thanks to a clinical finish from Ellen White.
It took the striker's goal tally to six, becoming the tournament's leading scorer.
However, Morgan regained the USA's lead with the deft header - equalling White's tally - and ultimately sending them through to the final in Lyon after the Lionesses had a goal disallowed and missed a late penalty.
