Mo Farah insures his legs for £7m over fears of a horror tackle during Soccer Aid match
OLYMPIC ace Mo Farah has had his legs insured for a staggering £7million - over fears he could pick up a horror tackle during Soccer Aid for Unicef match.
The British runner, who is aiming to win gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, gave TV bosses at Endemol a headache after insurers initially refused to cover the 36-year-old.
But after being persuaded that the event was for a good cause - raising money for Unicef - execs agreed to back his trusty pins for a huge seven figure sum.
Speaking ahead of the game at Stamford Bridge, Mo told the Sun on Sunday: “I don’t want to think about any bad tackles; hopefully that won’t happen.
“If you’re doing it for charity and something happens then at least you know it’s for a good cause. As a parent myself, I’ve got four kids, if I can change one kid’s life and give them basic things then that’s all that matters.”
RAISING MONEY FOR UNICEF
Mo, who was knighted in 2017, will line up for England in tonight’s televised match alongside stars including Robbie Williams, Mark Wright, John Terry and former England goalie David Seaman. They are being managed by the unlikely duo of Sam Allardyce and Susanna Reid.
The squad is taking on a World XI team - coached by Harry Redknapp - boasting the likes of Usain Bolt, Eric Cantona, One Direction singer Niall Horan and Martin Compston.
Line Of Duty actor, Martin, 35, is also subject to a weighty insurance premium ahead of filming the widely hyped new series.
OTHER CELEBS INSURE ASSETS
Asked about his insurance, he said: “It’s not good! They’ve been really good on my latest job though.
“I understand the issue with insurance because if you get injured it costs so much to keep a set running every day.
You’ve got to be careful but I’m just really happy the insurers let me play this year. It’s been a shame that I’ve not been allowed to have a kick about beforehand because of it so I feel a bit rusty but hopefully I can blow the cobwebs away. “I’m really excited.”
Mo and Martin aren’t the first celebs to have their famous assets insured.
