TYSON FURY is the best heavyweight boxer in the world, according to the prestigious Ring Magazine rankings.

It's all change in the top five following a weekend of boxing that shocked the world.

Anthony Joshua surrendered his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world titles when he suffered a sensational seventh-round stoppage loss against Andy Ruiz Jr.

And in a double whammy, he was relegated from top spot to No4 on the Ring Magazine's rankings.

That meant Fury moved into first, with WBC champ Deontay Wilder No2.

Both of these two, unlike Joshua, are undefeated in the professional game.

Thanks to upsetting odds as big as 25/1 to become unified heavyweight champ, Ruiz takes the third spot ahead of the man he battered in fourth.

The top five is completed by the third Brit - Dillian Whyte, who has spent months angling for a fight against Wilder or a Joshua rematch to no avail.

BEST OF THE BEST

The Ring Magazine belt was the last one stripped from Fury as he battled well-documented personal issues outside the ring.

But the organisation said that he would take up a ranking as soon as he laced the gloves back up.

This belt was first awarded by a magazine called The Ring, to heavyweight boxer Jack Dempsey back in 1922.

The Ring Champion is said to hold a linear reign to the throne, as it is given to "the man who beat the man," that is the winner of the best two fighters.

The organisation believes that the boxing governing bodies often pit "undeserving" fighters in with the champions. It claims the Ring Champion is the best of the best.

They have number one and number two boxers in each category, and should these two fight, the winner will be named the Ring Champion.

And with Frank Warren confirming the rematch between Fury and Wilder IS happening after they controversial draw in their first fight, the belt will be on the line as well as the WBC strap.

That is as long as Wilder gets past Luis Ortiz in their rematch before the end of the year.
