BLOODIED and dazed Anthony Joshua asked his corner man "why am I feeling like this?" during his catastrophic defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr in New York.

The Mexican caused one of the biggest upset of all time by stopping WBA, WBO and IBF world champion AJ in the seventh round.

At the end of round five, after being dropped twice in the third, a dumbstruck Joshua, 29, asked his trainer Rob McCracken: "What round is it?"

In the next break a hugely underwhelming Joshua, who had suffered a bloodied nose, then asked: "Why am I feeling like this?"

Britain's poster boy had sent 25-1 no-hoper Ruiz, also 29, crashing to the canvas in the third round before being decked twice himself.

He was lucky to survive the round but struggled to gain a foothold from then.

PUNCH DRUNK

And in the seventh round, Ruiz sent Joshua tumbling twice more before the referee waved off the fight.

AJ, who looked dazed as he stood against the ropes without his mouth guard in, claimed he wanted to carry on but ref Mike Griffin ignored his protests.

Amazingly, one judge had the Brit WINNING at the time, while two others had him a point down.

Ruiz, whose record now stands at 33-1, is the shock WBA, WBO and IBF king of the world.

The Mexican had been mocked for his stature and was branded a "fat slob" by legendary promoter Bob Arum.

But his heavier 19st 2lbs frame proved to be superior to Joshua's 17st 9lbs build.

A rematch is on the cards for November or December in the UK - where Joshua has won the rest of his 22 fights.
