Ali appeared to nibble Price’s shoulder in the third round of the contest, staged in Liverpool, while the pair were clinched against the ropes.

Going into the fifth, with Price ahead, Ali had his best stint of the fight, but was soon on the receiving end of a sustained attack by his Liverpudlian opponent.

In an attempt to recover Ali grabbed Price and clinched him to the ground – but when the two fell to the floor the Birmingham man bit him again, this time on the stomach.

Referee Mark Lyson immediately disqualified Ali, who after being escorted out of the stadium by security was then confronted by an enraged thug and showered with beer by furious fans.

It is believed he sank his teeth into Price at least four times during the bout.

And now according to boxing writer Martin Domin, Ali has been hit with a six-month suspension by the Central Area Council.

The 27-year-old has also been fined £10,000, which is half of his fight purse from the Echo Arena Liverpool fight night.

However Ali claimed he was subjected to “ugly and shocking racist abuse” before entering the ring.

He will be able to return to the ring on October 1.

Ex-cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew blasted Ali as a “disgrace” and said he should be banned for life.

Bellew said: “His bottle went and they were disgusting things which have no place in a boxing ring.

“He bit him not once, not twice, not even three times, he bit him four times and the referee caught him twice.

“He’s a disgrace and shouldn’t be allowed back in a boxing ring ever again.

“He should not be paid for the fight, give the money to grassroots boxing and help develop amateur boxing.

A shocked Price called Ali an “animal” after the contest – and snubbed any suggestion of a rematch.

Price said: “I hurt him to the body just before the final bite he took.

“He did a couple early on and I thought he had lost his head completely.

“He said he wanted a rematch, but I don’t want to share a ring with an animal like that again.

“The main thing is that I move forward. I will take any win, and now we move on.”
