TERENCE CRAWFORD urged Amir Khan to "tell the truth" after the Brit star claimed a low blow left him unable to continue.

The 32-year-old failed in his quest to rip the WBO welterweight title away from the undefeated American after being caught below the belt in the sixth round.

Khan was given a mandatory five-minute recovery break by referee David Fields, but the 2004 Olympic silver medallist was pulled out by trainer Virgil Hunter.

Hunter said after the contest that Khan "indicated" to him he was hurt, but the two-weight world champ later took to Twitter to insist he stopped the fight without his permission.

Boxing fans were left stunned over the bizarre ending at Madison Square Garden, with some believing that the Bolton hero quit - an opinion also shared by Kell Brook and Crawford.

Speaking in the post-fight press conference, Khan claimed: "I would never quit. I'd rather get knocked out."

To which Crawford replied by saying: "You didn't quit? Tell the truth," before insisting that he punched him in the leg.

Khan - who was dropped in the opening round - then firmly stated: "In the leg? You hit me in the balls!"

Crawford then laughed off his claim, before a fan in the audience shouted out "it was a low blow", with Bud agreeing he caught him below the belt.

Another supporter then joined in on the argument, declaring Khan simply didn't want to carry on with the fight.

Fans were equally split on social media whether Khan was indeed hit in the groin, which ultimately ended the bout prematurely.

One tweeted: "I still cannot believe that wasn’t a disqualification on Crawford. Man literally uppercut Khan’s groin smh."

While another commented: "Khans wearing a groin guard which is clearly hit there. That would OBVIOUSLY send a vicious impact all over his groin. That was a bad low blow. You must be both blind and stupid."

Another defender of Khan quipped: "If I'd taken a shot in the nuts like that I'd be talking like Joe Pasquale for weeks."

One suggested: "All these keyboard warriors claiming Amir Khan just quit... please take a low blow punch from Terence Crawford and try to continue, muppets."

However other fans laid into the Englishman, with one tweeting: "Amir Khan is the softest fighter I’ve ever seen. Ufc fighters get kicked in the groin accidentally all the time and continue to fight!"

Another said: "Just saw the ending to the Amir Khan fight, how pathetic to quit on yourself like that. Dude didn’t even get punched in the groin. Just didn’t wanna get bullied anymore."
