Mitch Garbutt reveals Britney Spears and Aqua are helping Hull KR’s players

MITCH Garbutt has revealed two of the unlikely inspirations behind Hull KR's quest for success - Britney Spears and Aqua.
The pop queen and Danish band responsible for annoying hits like Barbie Girl and Dr Jones may seem like an assault on the ears to many.
But Garbutt says they are keeping smiles on faces of Rovers players as they travel in from Leeds - courtesy of a playlist done by Danny McGuire.
And the veteran stand-off does sing along on some of their journeys along the M62.
Australian Garbutt said: "There's Danny, Jimmy Keinhorst, Robbie Mulhern and I who all take turns to do the long drive.
"But Danny has done this playlist for the car journeys that has things like Britney Spears and Aqua on.
“Looks can be deceiving. He’s probably the best singer – let’s face it, he’s good at everything!
"I don't sing very often. I'm normally sat in the back talking gibberish but it's all good fun."
Garbutt tonight faces his former club as both sides look to inject new life into their campaign.
But there is little lovelost for the way it ended for him at Headingley, especially the way he found out he was being allowed to leave from other people.
He added: "I didn’t get to finish there on my terms.
“I had a couple of operations last year and was looking forward to coming back into pre-season.
“However, I got a few calls from different people and I was told I was being allowed to leave, even though I hadn’t been officially told.
“When I was, everything happened pretty quickly but it’s never good to hear in that way.
“And it’s not going to be strange to face them. I’ve been to a few clubs in Australia and faced old clubs before – you just do what you need to do.
“I think there are two or three games we should’ve won this season but it’s probably a false position for Leeds to be in too.”
