But McGregor later revealed it was just a joke, in keeping with the tradition on April 1.

McGregor made out that he will be releasing his very own brand of rose wine called ‘champ champ’ – ‘shomp shomp’ as he pronounced it.

It was named after his achievements in the Octagon, becoming a double champion, owning the UFC featherweight title and lightweight title back in 2016.

The 30-year-old has referred to himself as the ‘champ champ’ ever since, making the advert seem fairly legitimate.

McGregor was seen holding a glass of rose wine in a tropical resort before picking up a bunch of red grapes and sitting in the back seat of a car holding his wine.

The camera panned to soothing shots of a field and then ponies running on the beach in shots of epic cheesiness.

The Irishman said: “It wasn’t always sunshine, coming up on the streets of Dublin, fighting through the adversities of the cage and life itself, until I finally reached the top, champ champ.

“Crafted with the finest Irish grape varietals, Champ Champ Rose is my gift to you.”

But all became clear soon after, when the cameras cut to McGregor holding a bottle of his whiskey.

He said: “Surprise surprise motherf***ers, April Fool’s, Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey.”
