Fifa president Gianni Infantino wears Cove Rangers hat as he watches Highland League side
The Swiss was in Aberdeen to speak at IFAB's AGM but found time to watch the Scottish minnows in action
COVE RANGERS had a surprise special guest yesterday – Fifa president Gianni Infantino.
The Swiss was in attendance as the Highland League side picked up a 3-0 win over Nairn County.
And he was even pictured wearing a club hat while visiting their trophy room.
Cove Rangers posted pictures of his visit on Twitter, saying: “Great to see Fifa president Gianni Infantino at Balmoral Stadium today!
“Pictured here with our directors, commercial manager…and sporting his new Cove Rangers headwear!”
Infantino was accompanied on the visit by SFA president Alan McRae, vice-president Rod Petrie and chief executive Ian Maxwell.
The Fifa president was in Aberdeen to speak at the International Football Association Board’s AGM.
He insisted Scottish referees are at a high level but admits that our officials can still improve.

Meanwhile, Cove’s victory keeps them in second place in the Highland League, tied on 71 points with leaders Brora Rangers.
But the Aberdeen side have two games in hand and will be confident of another title win, having lost just once all season.
