Wolves fan slapped with three-year ban for throwing pie at West Ham supporter says it flew out her mouth while coughing
Josephine Johnson, 44, was barred from Molineux for dropping a piece of steak pie on the head of a West Ham fan — but the mum-of-one says she's not guilty and the ban from football is effecting her mental state
A WOLVES fan banned for hurling a pie at a rival supporter claims it flew out of her mouth when she coughed.
Josephine Johnson, 44, was barred from Molineux for hitting the West Ham supporter on the head with a chunk of steak pie during her side’s 3-0 Premier League win.
But the mum of one, a lifelong supporter, yesterday begged for the three-year ban to be lifted and said it had all been an accident.
Josephine said: “I was just finishing the pie when Wolves scored. As I celebrated, the last bit got stuck in my throat and I had a coughing fit.
Josephine, of Rugeley, Staffs, insisted: “I’m not a football yob.”
“A piece of meat shot out and hit the West Ham fan below. I leaned over to apologise and he hurled abuse at me and called the stewards.”
When she was hauled before magistrates, sales rep Josephine admitted hurling a pie — but now claims she did so only on the advice of a solicitor who supported Wolves’ local rivals Aston Villa.
