Wolves fan slapped with three-year ban for throwing pie at West Ham supporter
Josephine Johnson, 44, pleaded guilty to throwing the missile during Wolves' 3-0 win at Molineux last month
A WOLVES fan has been slapped with a three-year ban and a £300 fine for throwing a pie at West Ham supporters during their 3-0 win over the Hammers last month.
Romain Saiss and Raul Jiminez grabbed the goals but 44-year-old Josephine Johnson gained the headlines from Molineux after dropping her food onto travelling fans below.
Johnson, a season ticket holder at the club, initially denied chucking the pie intentionally but admitted to the crime after she was shown CCTV footage.
Prosecuting, Roger Blezzard, said: “She had consumed two pints of alcohol and something from a hip flask.
“She was in a relationship that had broken down and was going to football as a release. She initially said it was an accident, but when shown CCTV admitted she got excited and carried away.
“She thought it would be funny to hit a supporter, she was not trying to hurt anyone.”
Johnson has now been banned from games until February 2022 and has been ordered to pay costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £30, in addition to a £300 fine.
Sentencing her, deputy district judge Graham Bennett said: “The offence is described as throwing a pie.
“You will be aware how serious matters of disorder between opposing fans can quickly escalate into violence.
“You gave really little thought about the consequences.”
