Chelsea transfer target Icardi ‘eating alone’ after Inter Milan fall out as exit looms
CHELSEA transfer target Mauro Icardi has been isolated from the rest of the Inter Milan team, after being stripped of the captaincy.
According to reports, the striker refused to travel for the Nerrazurri's Europa League match against Rapid Vienna on Thursday.
The Blues have received another boost in their pursuit of Icardi as his rift with Inter is seemingly widening.
The Serie A giants informed earlier this week that goalkeeper Samir Handanovic replaced Icardi as the team's captain, prompting the Argentine to skip Thursday's Europa League clash against Rapid.
And , an Italian news outlet, report the 25-year-old hitman has been now eating by himself at Inter's Appiano Gentile training ground in the aftermath of the fallout.
Icardi has only fuelled rumours over his future with a "cryptic message " on Instagram, inspired by Mark Twain's quote, that read: "It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt."
Icardi's wife and agent - Wanda Nara - revealed last month Inter were yet to offer the striker a new contract as the Italian giants were reportedly baulking at his £170,000-a-week wage demands.
She also lashed out at the club for the treatment of her husband.
Nara said: "I wish that the club could protect Mauro more because nasty things have come out from within.
"Goals? He had little service by the team. Instead of new contract, I would prefer Inter to sign someone that can give him five good balls a game."

But Icardi's sister, Ivana, has claimed Nara is at the centre of her brother's feud with Inter - and even said she has "s*** for brains" in a vicious attack on the 32-year-old model.
Icardi has scored 15 goals for Inter this season, but has failed to find the net in Serie A since the mid-December clash against Udinese.
