ROAD TO RECOVERY

Guinness Six Nations 2019: Maro Itoje and Dylan Hartley take part in light England training ahead of Six Nations decider against Wales

MARO ITOJE and Dylan Hartley took part in light England training this morning.

The crocked pair were rehabbing with Aussie rules expert Neil Craig as the rest of Eddie Jones' squad get ready to face Wales in an epic Six Nations decider a week on Saturday.

And Jones hopes that second row Itoje could even nick a spot on the bench for the trip to the Welsh capital.

Itoje suffered knee ligament damage in the first round win against Ireland.

Speaking after the win against France, Aussie boss Jones said: "Whether Maro’s available for Wales is probably more of a long shot, but you never know – he’s got quite freakish recuperative powers so we’ll wait and see.

"It’ll be handy to bring him off the bench."

Hooker Hartley is more of a doubt, though, with his own knee problem.

The ex skipper has been out since December and could need surgery to clear out his battered knee if his rehab plan doesn't work.

When asked about his hopes for the 32-year-old, Jones said: "It's probably a little bit slower.

"I couldn’t see him be available for Wales."

Former England centre and captain Will Carling was also present at training as part of his role as a mentor for Jones' men.
